The Anti Corruption Branch of CBI 'trapped' Chandrasekar, Superintendent of Central Excise for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 11,000 for himself and one Assistant Commissioner Lionel Fernandez, the agency said in a release.
They were arrested on a complaint from R Bojan, Managing Partner of RBS Group for handing over copy of Accepted General Bond for Rs 20 lakh in favour of the company for procurement of Excisable Goods for Export without payment of Excise duty and for issuing a certificate against the said General Bond, the release said.
They were produced before a Special CBI court, which remanded them to custody.
Searches were conducted at five places and incriminating documents were seized. An amount of Rs 29.15 lakh in cash and Rs 18.50 lakh worth FDRs were seized, it added.
