Two-day conference on simplifying governance begins

A two-day conference on simplifying governance using technology was inaugurated here today by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The conference 'Governance with Accountability, Transparency and Innovation' (GATI) aims to provide a platform to share experiences of the states and private sector in the field of reforms or initiatives undertaken by them to improve public service delivery, make the administration effective, transparent, accountable and citizen-friendly.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Minister said that the theme of the regional conference 'Minimum Government, Maximum Governance' is both relevant and timely in the present context.
"Good governance means many different things to different people, with different backgrounds. Technology is emerging as core requirement for transforming the way India perceives governance," a press release issued today by Personnel Ministry said.
The conference is also attended by the members of private sector, who are sharing their experiences with those from the Government Sector to take forward the idea and success of e-governance, it said.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary in Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances Devendra Chaudhry said that Bengaluru is a Silicon Valley of technology and should have a future vision of technology as that of Paris.
Presentations based on theme 'Citizen centric services delivery - ease of governance' initiatives by some of the participating states will be held tomorrow.
The session will be followed by another one on 'Startup Showcase by NASSCOM' and a panel discussions.
