The meet, to be inaugurated by Fisheries secretary, Devendra Chaudhry, is expected to suggest a policy framework and a growth strategy for the complete and integrated development of the sector.
The event is being viewed as a major landmark in the fisheries development strategies of the Union Government in the coming months, a government press release said.
The fisheries sector is considered as one of the major contributors in for the country's food and nutritional security, foreign exchange earnings and employment generation.
The meet, which will cover the entire gamut of the sector such as marine, inland, brackish water including the processing, marketing and institutional credit, will be attended by all stakeholders, administrators, scientists, bankers, leading professionals and practitioners in the sector.
