"Sleuths of Commissioner's Task Force (West Zone) team apprehended Arif Patan and Hiralal, during checking of lodges, and seized gold ornaments worth about Rs 1.75 crore that were without any tax receipts," Task Force Additional DCP N Koti Reddy said.
The duo were handed over gold ornaments weighing over 9 kg (without any tax receipts) by the jeweller, based in Zaveri Bazaar of Mumbai, to sell the same in jewellery shops in Hyderabad, the police officer said.
"However, police conducted lodge checking and nabbed them along with gold ornaments and they were handed over to IT department for further action," Reddy said.
