Two estate workers injured in elephant attack

Two tea estate workers sustained serious injuries when a herd of elephants chased and attacked them in Manampalli estate in Valparai in the district today.
Supervisor Senthilkumar and worker, Krishnasamy were moving towards the estate, when two mother-elephants, along with two calves, blocked their way and attacked after chasing them at some distance, police said.
In the melee, both sustained bleeding injuries all over the body and were admitted to the government hospital in Valparai, they said.
Fellow workers managed to drive away the elephants, police said.
