According Vijaya Paul, DSP of ACB (Vijayawada), Excise Sub Inspector Ramanjaneyulu was taken into custody yesterday by their staff on the outskirts of the city while he was carrying the unaccounted cash by a bus from Machilipatnam.
On investigations, he confessed that the amount belonged to Machilipatnam Excise Superintendent K Pradeep Rao, the DSP said.
Following this, ACB also conducted searches at the offices of the two accused and seized the cash, besides arresting Rao.
The duo will be produced in ACB court at Vijayawada today.
