K Manmahda Rao, Sub-Inspector at the Madhapur police station, said as per initial reports, the two were working on the lift on the 11th floor when suddenly one of the hooks attached to the elevator got snapped.
Due to this, the elevator came crashing down to the ground floor, he said.
Both died on the spot, Rao said, adding they were identified as G Naga Raju (28) and M Ramesh (21).
The bodies were sent for an autopsy and a case of accidental death has been registered, the police officer said, adding further investigation is on.
