Two killed in separate attacks by wild elephants

A 30-year old tea estate worker was trampled to death by a wild elephant near Gudalur, about 70 kms from here in the hilly Nilgiris District.
K Ravikumar was returning home with his mother, when the elephant suddenly appeared from the dark around 7 PM. Though his mother managed to escape, the elephant caught hold of Ravi and trampled him to death, they said.
Meanwhile, a 44-year old man from Periyanaickenpalayam on the outskirts of Coimbatore, who was attacked by a stray elephant on Wednesday, succumbed to his injuries at a govenrment hospital last night, police said.
