One of the insurgents was a personal security officer (PSO) of Bidai and the most wanted senior leader of NDFB(S) was involved in the massacre and killing of teenaged girl Priya Basumatary, who was gunned down in full view of villagers in the district, IGP, Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD), L R Bishnoi said.
Based on specific inputs about the presence of a NDFB cadre in Patabari area under Amguri Police Station, an operation was conducted in the area led by the IGP, district Superintendent of Police and Additional SP (headquarters) Chirang along with Assam Police commandos.
On interrogation, he led the police to a nearby jungle from where one HK 33 rifle alongwith a magazine and 212 pieces of ammunition were recovered, the IGP said.
On further interrogation, Biron revealed the presence of another NDFB(S) ultra in Sissubari area under Amguri PS.
Another operation was conducted and 'lance corporal' Swmkwr Basumatary alias B Sukao of the Myanmar trained 35th batch was apprehended, Bishnoi said.
Basumutary then led the police to recover a 7.65 mm pistol with magazine, two rounds ammunition, 201 pieces of AK ammunition, 25 pieces of point 303 ammunitions, four HE Grenades alongwith detonators, the police officer said.
