Rail Superintendent of Police P N Mishra said in a statement today that two persons hailing from Amritsar in Punjab were caught consuming liquour in Punjab Mail by a Railway escort party at Danapur last night who went there on receiving complaint from passengers.
The escort party found an open bottle of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and another soft drink bottle with them.
A case was registered against them with Danapur Rail police station under the new Excise law and Indian Railway Act, the SRP said.
Bihar has declared complete prohibition since Tuesday last.
The SRP said that as part of the campaign against alcohol, rigorous checking was being done in trains passing through Bihar.
A detailed meeting was conducted yesterday at Mughalsarai with Rail police of Uttar Pradesh in which their cooperation was sought to prohibit consumption of liquor in trains in Bihar, the statement said.
