While one gold bar with a market value of Rs 27.99 lakh was seized from Mankeri Saidu Muhammed Jamseer, arrived by an Emirates flight, two gold bars with a market value of Rs 58.98 lakh were seized from K Abbas Ravof, who came in another Emirates flight.
Seeing Jamseer behaving in an odd manner, the Air Intelligence and customs officials became suspicious. The passenger went out of of the Customs hall with his Hand baggage leaving behind the Checked in baggage.
The officers seized the gold bar weighing one kg and also seized USD 4500 from his possession.
The officials conducted a personal search of Ravof and it was noticed that he had hidden two gold bars concealed in a layer of carbon papers in his ankle on top of which he had worn a thick socks.
