Two persons, including an 11-year-old boy, allegedly committed suicide in two separate incidents in the national capital in the last 24 hours.
The first incident took place in north Delhi's Burari area last evening when Bittu (11) was denied permission to go out and play by his mother.
"As his mother scolded him and asked him to stay at home, the disturbed boy who studied in class five went to the third floor of his house and hanged himself from a rod in the ceiling of the house using his mother's saree," said a police official.
The incident came to light when the boy's mother Munni went to call him and found the body hanging from the rod. She raised an alarm and informed the other family members. The body has been sent for postmortem examination in a government hospital. No suicide note was found.
Bittu's father Janardhan Rao deals in auto parts business. Bittu lived with his parents and four siblings in Burari's Jharaunda. They are natives of Bihar.
The second incident took place in southwest Delhi's Kapashera area where a 22-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself here this morning.
Her body was spotted by her mother around 10 am in her room.
According to the victim's family, the deceased identified as Dipali was depressed after the results of Bachelor in Commerce, in which she had failed, last year, police said.
