Two PWD engineers in ACB net; Rs 3 cr seized from one of them

Sleuth of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today caught two engineers allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 22,000 from a road contractor here, and later recovered Rs 2.96 crore in cash from the residence of one of them.
Satish Madhukar Chikhlikar, an Executive Engineer at PWD office at Nashik, and Jagdish Magan Wagh, Branch Engineer posted at Sub-Divisional Office of PWD at Trimbakeshwar near here, were trapped this afternoon, ACB sources said.
Chikhlikar had demanded a bribe of Rs 22,000 to clear the road contractor's pending bills, amounting to around Rs 3.87 lakh, related to PWD-related projects. He had demanded the bribe through Wagh, they said.

The contractor lodged a complaint with the ACB which laid a trap and caught Wagh while accepting the bribe money in Chikhlikar's office at Nashik, the sources said.
ACB sleuths later raided the residences of both the Government officials. They recovered Rs 2.96 crore in cash, gold and silver ornaments from Chikhlikar's house, they said.
Cash of Rs 35,000, 11 'tola' gold and property-related documents were seized from Wagh's residence, the sources said, adding further probe was on.
