When he refused, they beat him up. His friend Akash Patel tried to intervene; he was hit with a cricket bat.
Patel had to be admitted to government-run SSG Hospital here.
Fatehganj police have registered a case. The accused students were absconding, the police said.
J N Panchal, principal of the college, admitted that it was a case of ragging and demanded permanent posting of two policemen on night duty at the hostel.
