Amid infighting in the ruling Congress in Uttarakhand over regularisation of land in Sitarganj area, Chief Minister Harish Rawat has called a meeting of the state cabinet on February 10 where issues raised by his predecessor are likely to be resolved.
Other than this, issues raised by Congress leader and former Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna's son Saket will also be considered, Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee President Kishore Upadhyay told PTI.
Upadhyay said that recently he and Saket had met the chief minister who informed them about the cabinet meeting on February 10 and assured them that he would look into the issues raised.
In the meeting, Saket laid emphasis on approval of the issues of regularisation of land under categories IV and 1 (A) in former chief minister's constituency Sitarganj.
On January 29, former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna had written a letter to Rawat and raised the issue of regularisation of land under categories IV and 1 (A) in Sitarganj which has been hanging fire for a year now.
He had also accused Rawat of not acting on these matters despite several reminders in the past and warned that a 'Janakrosh rally' will be held in Udhamsingh Nagar district here on February 15 if the state cabinet does not resolve the issues soon.
In the meeting, Saket also asked him to give funds worth Rs 50 lakh fund to the Bar Association as promised by the former chief minister to which Rawat agreed, Upadhyay said.
Saket has twice contested elections from Tehri Lok Sabha constituency but never succeeded.
Bahuguna and Rawat are considered arch rivals in the politics of Uttarakhand. Thus, in an attempt to resolve the internal rifts in the state Congress, Rawat has also discussed land regularisation issue with his cabinet colleagues Indira Hridayesh and Yashpal Arya.
In a letter to Bahuguna, Rawat had also assured to sort out land regularisation issues. However, he also said that the matter relates to economy and law and order in the state therefore, it may take time.
