The heat wave sweeping lower hills of Himachal Pradesh today intensified further with the mercury breaching the 45.2-degree mark at Una in Shivalik foothills.
Sundernagar recorded a maximum temperature at 41.1 deg C, while Bhuntar recorded a high of 39 degree, eight points above normal, followed by Nahan at 37 deg C, Dharamsala 36.8 deg C, Solan 36 deg C and Kalpa 26.8 deg C.
The state capital Shimla settled at a high of 30.8 deg C, 7.5 notches above normal.
The scorching sun forced people and tourists to stay indoors in various parts of the state and the busy markets wore a deserted look.
