A murder accused allegedly escaped from police custody while he was being taken to the district court here, in connection with the trial of a murder case, today.
The incident occurred this afternoon when the accused Ayyappan (40), who was being brought to the court for the trial of the case registered against him for allegedly murdering his wife recently, ran away after reaching the entrance of the court premises, police said adding he was not hand-cuffed.
The escort police was too old to match his speed, he failed to catch the accused despite giving a chase, they said.
