At present, 75 per cent of births are registered in the state, a UNICEF release issued here today said.
During the event, held on September 6-7, training about the process of registering births and deaths was imparted to participants including the chief medical health officers (CMHOs), the district health officers and municipal officers, the release said.
The importance of civil registration, process of issuing certificates, record maintenance and low rate of death registration were also discussed during the event and it focused on the aim of registration of 100 per cent births and deaths, specially in rural areas.
The participants were also oriented on how to overcome the challenges being faced by them in process of registration and now they would train the respective officers at the district level, it said.
A road map for next five years was prepared which included three broad areas: training around 25,000 registrars, ensuring online system for civil registration and massive awareness campaign at all levels.
