The Startup Village here has instilled confidence among youngsters to take up entrepreneurship and become job creators in a big way, Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Giriraj Singh has said.
"I am very happy and content after my visit to Startup Village. What I learned from my quick survey of the incubator is that as the world is fast embracing the Startup culture, we Indians are also not far behind," he said during his interaction with the Startup Village authorities and entrepreneurs here last evening.
Startup Village is not just a group of people churning out new ideas, but it is also an institution that gives a platform for young people to transform their ideas into reality, he said.
It had taught people that there was an alternative to the country's leading technology and management institutions, which are looked up as a doorway for skilled youngsters to get into high-paid jobs, the Minister added.
"We always had skills, but lacked confidence. Startup Village has infused this confidence among our young generation," Singh is quoted as saying a release here.
During a 20-minute walk around the facility at nearby Kalamassery, along with the Startup Village team, he inquired about various projects by the young entrepreneurs.
In December last year, Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Kalraj Mishra had visited the startup village and promised support to the incubator.
"Startup Village has created a great ecosystem focused on early stage startups. There is a huge scope for further growth if the constraints of infrastructure and funds are addressed," Startup Village Chairman Sanjay Vijayakumar said, adding that "we have brought this matter to the attention of both the Central and state governments."
Startup Village CEO Pranav Kumar Suresh said Singh was very much convinced that incubators like Startup Village were the need of the hour.
