The Unnao rape victim today welcomed the Union Cabinet's decision to award death penalty to those convicted of raping children below 12 years.
The decision comes amid nation-wide outrage over cases of sexual assault and murder of minors.
"This is a good move. I am very happy but it would have been better if the age of the victim was taken as 16 years," she told PTI.
The teen had accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of raping her in June last year.
"Punishment for all those convicted of rape should not be anything less than life sentence. So that they do not dare to indulge in any such act again," she added.
