UP: 3 cops suspended for asking woman to stand in sun for hrs

Three policemen have been suspended for allegedly asking a woman to stand in the scorching heat for hours as a punishment at Kankarkhera area here, police said today.
SSI Pawan Kumar, woman ASI Amrita Yadav and woman police constable Menka posted at Kankarkhera police station have been suspended on grounds of extending "inhuman behaviour", SSP Dinesh Chandra Dubey said.
According to the victim Mamata, she was asked by the accused policemen to take up the posture of a chicken and stand in the sun for hours yesterday after she had an argument with a bank cashier, following which the cashier called the police.

The city SP Om Prakash has been asked to further probe the matter, police said.
The victim, a resident of Jassu area alleged that the cops also beat her up in the custody.
The SSP said that if found guilty, strict departmental action for indiscipline would be taken against the erring officers.
