A retired district social welfare officer has been arrested here in connection with a scholarship scam of over Rs 1.50 crore, police said on Monday.
Virendra Pal Singh, who was posted here in 2012-13, was arrested on Sunday in Sikandrarao area, said superintendent of police, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Rambabu.
Singh was allegedly involved in the scam of Rs 1.52 crore in connivance with Rajpal Singh Inter-College Principal Ashish Pundir, its manager Dharmveer Singh and one Brijesh Kumari, he said.
An FIR in this regard was registered in 2014 by the then district social welfare officer, Ashok Kumar, and the probe was handed over to the EOW in 2016.
