CAMPCO president S R Satish Chandra, in a release here, said he had met the UP Chief Minister and Health Minister Siddarth Nath in Delhi last week and discussed issues concerning arecanut growers.
Chandra also said he urged the Chief Minister to abolish the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) cess being imposed in Uttar Pradesh on sale of arecanut, which was putting a burden on individual arecanut traders.
The Chief Minister had promised to review the decision.
President of Karnataka Rajya Adike Marata Sahakari Niyamitha, H S Manjappa was also with the CAMPCO president when he met the Chief Minister on September 21, the release said.
