Claiming that the Uttar Pradesh government has no credibility, Congress today accused it of discriminating between its senior officials.
"This government has no existence. It has lost its credibility. Government is not run through police force but through its credibility and I cannot give even a single number to it," UPCC chief Nirmal Khatri told newspersons.
Khatri was responding to queries on the performance of the UP government which completes three years in office on March 15.
Charging the government of discriminating against its officials, Khatri said while police officials including SSP of Saharanpur were suspended over loot in a jewellery shop, no action was taken against officials occupying similar posts in Lucknow even after loot and murder of three people at an ATM and brutal killing of a 19-year-old girl.
"How can the government which discriminates between its officials maintain its credibility," Khatri asked.
"It is not just the police officials but also the district magistrates have been politicised... The DMs and SSPs, who at one time worked with pride, have to salute mafia of Samajwadi Party today," he said.
To a question on speculations of changes in the State Congress, Khatri said, "Such rumours are being spread to mislead the Congress organisation and demoralise its workers."
Khatri said the forces, parties and government who are perturbed over public support for his party's "rail roko, rasta roko" agitation against the Central and State governments scheduled for March 12, were getting behind it.
He further said that major railway stations and internal areas of cities have been exempted from the programme.
