UP govt guidelines to strengthen law and order situation

Uttar Pradesh government has issued detailed guidelines to authorities for further strengthening the law and order situation in their respective districts.
The divisional commissioners, district magistrates and senior superintendents of police have been asked to hold separate meetings every month on law and order and apprise the government about the developments and progress on a monthly basis, Principal Secretary Home, R M Srivastava said.
District administration and police officials have been directed to work in coordination, he said.
District and police officials have been asked to initiate preemptive steps for crime control and disposal of arms license applications within the time limit besides, he said.
The district officials have also been told to immediately cancel the arms license of people with criminal background and place a complete ban on celebratory firing, Srivastava added.
