UP govt simplifies process for getting new power connection

In a major relief to the power consumers, the Uttar Pradesh government has simplified the process to get fresh domestic connections.
"Principal Secretary Sanjay Agarwal has issued a notification in which compulsion of submitting borrow and lease form at the time of new connection has been abolished," an official spokesman said here.
He said that after this the new consumer would not be required to obtain the licence from licenced contrator.
The spokesman said that in place of licence the applicants would be required to submit a self declaration form.
He said that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had received iformation from the MLAs and public representatives that problems were being faced by the people in getting new connection.
The spokesman said that taking cognizance of the complaint the CM ha directed to abolish the system of licence and introduce alternative system.
He said that following notification UP Power Corporation Limited A P Mishra has directed all the distribution companies to implement the new system with immediate effect.
