Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta has asked the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to conduct a probe into land deals by the Revenue Board in 70 districts of the state.
"I have sent a report to the CM asking him to order a probe into land deals in 70 districts of the state," Lokayukta Justice N K Mehrotra said here.
Lokayukta said that an inquiry into the land deals was carried out in Mathura and was extended to Kanpur, Barabanki, Ghaziabad and Agra during which a loss of Rs 19.5 crore in stamp duty was detected.
Mehrotra said that the inquiry was conducted on complaint of one Kapil Dev into change of land use in Mathura.
"I have recommended that action should be taken against sub divisional magistrate of Mathura who first changed the agricultural land to residential and then revert it back," he said.
