US Ambassador Richard Verma to interact with Punjab industry

To boost trade ties with Punjab, US Ambassador Richard R Verma will woo state industry during his Punjab visit on May 21 in Jalandhar.
Verma will be participating in a session on 'Promoting India - US Partnership in Business & Industry', being organised by the CII at Jalandhar during his upcoming visit to Punjab under the US Embassy's outreach programme and will also interact with the members of CII Punjab State Council, the industry body said in a release here.
Through the CII session with the key industry representatives from Punjab, Verma will elaborate on the key strengths of the US and the potential areas in which the tie ups, partnerships and Joint Ventures (JVs) can be entered into between the industry from Punjab and their counterparts in US.

He will also dwell on the key upcoming sectors and segments in which there is an immense scope for cooperation, learning and sharing of best practices between the US and Punjab, the release said.
Verma will try to portray the US as an ideal investment hub and encourage the regional industry to expand their businesses in the US.
"He (Verma) will be assisted and accompanied by Paul Frost and Robyn Kessler, senior officers from the US Embassy, who will showcase their best practices, the ease of doing business in US and the key advantages of setting up business units or expanding business in US," said Pikender Pal Singh, Regional Director, CII NR.

In addition to attracting investments from Punjab, they would also strive to understand more about the issues and challenges being faced by the Punjab industry while importing from or exporting to the US, further said Pikender Pal.

"CII is also organising a special plenary on Indo - US Partnership in travel, tourism & education as part of the session to open the avenues of partnerships between Punjab and the US in these critical fields", added Singh.
Another key highlight of the session would be a detailed presentation giving insights on the US Visa Procedures for business, study or work purposes by Ashok Kaul from Visa section, US Embassy Officer.

This would help in better understanding of the standards and key factors to be considered while applying for a US visa, he said.
