House Democratic leader Pelosi flew with a bipartisan delegation to the Himalayan hill town where the 81-year-old Tibetan leader is based along with the Tibetan government-in- exile.
The American politicians presented the Dalai Lama with a bowl from the US House of Representatives during a lunch for the delegation.
"Our delegation visits @DalaiLama in his spirit of faith & peace coming to be inspired & demonstrate our commitment to the Tibetan people," Pelosi tweeted.
The Dalai Lama will also attend a public reception for the delegation at the main Tibetan temple here tomorrow.
