Vancouver Lions beat United Singh by solitary point in WKL

Vancouver Lions held their nerves during an intense battle as they pipped United Singhs 53-52, by a single point, in a thrilling contest in the World Kabaddi League here today.
At the close of first quarter, United managed to take a mimimum lead with the help of some dour defending as they ended the session at 14-13.
The second quarter also continued to be the same and United Singhs again opened up a four point lead at 15-11.
However, the match started to change in the third quarter with Lions' mighty raider Gagandeep Singh Sabrawa leading the charge. Lions led the quarter with a score of 16-10.

The fourth quarter became nail-biter after United managed to level the score at 42-42.
Finally, Vancouver Lions snatched the victory by pouching onto the raiders one by one.

Gagandeep Singh Sabrawa was also announced 'Man of the Match' for 18 sucessful raids.
"We are really happy after winning this match. The fight was really tough as the other side has a very strong lineup. This victory will surely be boosting our confidence for the upcoming matches," said the raider.
Sandeep Singh Sandhu of United Singhs was declared 'Stopper of the Match' for six stops.
Russel Abbel, First Secretary of the British High Commission was also present for the match.

Sharing his love for the game, Abbel said,"No one will believe that I have grown up watching kabaddi. I am very happy that a tournament like this is being organized, it is surely provide an impetus to the game."
The much needed victory for the Vancouver Lions has promoted the team to number seven from the last spot. On the other hand United Singhs which was at fourth spot in the points table has climbed one step down to number five.
Vancouver Lions will next meet Khalsa Warriors in Ludhiana on September 6 whereas, United Singhs will next meet California Eagles at the same venue on the same date.
