The distraught father, a migrant labour from Assam had taken back his son's body on a two-wheeler after he was declared "brought dead" at the Anekal government hospital, where the man had brought him after a road mishap on Sunday.
The boy had been knocked down dead by an unidentified motorist near Karpur Gate in Anekal on Sunday evening, after which he was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead, the police said.
The hospital authorities said the parents of the boy had taken back the body without the mandatory autopsy.
"On getting to know about the incident, we searched for the parents and took the body back to the hospital for the post-mortem examination," they added.
A relative of the boy said they did not ask for the ambulance as they felt it would not be affordable for them.
He said, "We had left, we are poor, how can we afford the ambulance? We did not have money, so we had left."
The police said it has registered a case and is looking for the motorist who caused the accident.
The members of an official panel, mandated to protect the women and children against violence, however, visited the government hospital yesterday and recommended actions against the hospital authorities.
The incident brought back the memories of Odisha's Dana Majhi, who had to carry his dead wife on his back last year after he was allegedly denied a hearse by a hospital.
