An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) posted at Jaito was today caught red-handed by the Vigilance Bureau while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.
An official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that ASI Angrej Singh was nabbed based on the complaint of Balwinder Singh Sandhu, a resident of Kamra Patti in village Jaito.
In his complaint, Sandhu said that a conflict had arisen between him and another party. With the mediation of village panchayat, a compromise was signed between the two.
He complained that the ASI was demanding Rs 40,000 as bribe in lieu of issuance of a compromise letter to him.
To procure the letter, he decided to pay Rs 30,000 as bribe to the ASI. He then complained against the ASI to the Vigilance Bureau.
Acting on the tip-off, a trap was laid and Angrej Singh was nabbed red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 30,000.
