Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today paid a surprise visit to Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women at Khanpur Kalan in Sonipat district and expressed his displeasure over the kind of services being rendered to the patients.
During his two-and-a-half hours visit, the Minister toured various departments including intensive care unit to inspect the kind of facilities being given to the patients. He was not happy with the services, an official spokesperson said.
He was surprised to see that outdoor patients have been prescribed medicines on the out-patient tickets by the doctors which were to be bought from the market, he said.
He photographed those tickets and said that investigation would be initiated to find out if it was necessary to prescribe such medicines.
Vij said that there was neither shortage of medicines nor of the resources in the state, if still the patients have to purchase medicines from the market, then the issue would be investigated.
He found that the X-ray machines were not being utilized to their full potential, he said.
Later on, the Minister said that he has been receiving complaints about carelessness of the staff of the medical college and during his visit, he observed that the ground reality was bad.
Vij criticized the previous state government for the prevailing poor state of affairs in the hospital and said that it would take time to put the system back on tracks.
