Virbhadra hoists HP's tallest flag, inaugurates cultural cntrs

Himachal's largest and tallest tricolour, installed at the height of 100 feet, was hoisted by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today at Dhalpur ground campus (Rath Maidan) in Kullu district.
With this, the district became the first inHimachal to hoist the 100-ft tall National flag andentered the list of 63 places in the country to have installed the tricolour, fluttering at the height of100feetor more, the officials said.
Thedimensions of theflag, made from knitted polyester fabric called 'Deneir Polyester' manufactured in Mumbai,are 24x30 feet and weighs 9 kilograms, the officials said.
The government also said it will make sure that adequate assistance was given to these temples.

"I don't want that old temples be closed or there is no one to even light incense sticks or lamp in front of the idols of our Gods," he said.
The Chief Minister warned those who play with the faith, belief and religious sentiments of the people in name of deities and carry the palanquins of God and Goddesses on streets.

He also distributed cheques of Rs 25,000 each out of revolving fund of Rs 10 crore, created for the maintenance and upkeep of temples of local deities of the Valley.
Chief minister also laid the foundation stone ofMulti Purpose Cultural Centre and Indoor Auditorium near Dev Sadan to be constructed at a cost Rs 13.38 crore.

The auditorium will have intake capacity of 680 persons, besides it will house 18 suits and two dormitories for as many as 20 people and parking facility.
He also laid foundation stone of Parking at Kala Kendra, costing Rs 5 crore to have parking facility for 160 vehicles and an indoor Sports Complex at Kullu to cost Rs 2.92 crore.
He also laid the foundation stone ofRs 40 crore Tourist Culture Centre Badagran near Manali to be constructed by department of Tourism and Civil Aviation with financial assistance from Asian Development Bank.
The project will promote and preserve the rich culture of the state and give boost to the local economy of the area, he said.
