Vithura Baby passes away

Vithura Baby, veteran Malayalam journalist and writer who closely followed political and cultural developments of Kerala for over five decades, has died, family sources said today.
Baby (75) was active as a freelancer and contributor till the end. He collapsed while travelling in a city bus. He was rushed to the medical college hospital, where he was declared dead yesterday, sources said.
He is survived by a wife and two children.
Baby entered journalism through the publications of the undivided Communist Party in the late 1950s.
After the party split, he remained with the CPI and had been associated with the party's official organ 'Janayugom' and its sister publications for many years.

A versatile journalist, Baby made a mark in both the writing and production sides of the profession. He contributed to all branches of journalism including sports, literature and cinema.
He had also worked with Mangalam daily for a while and had been bringing out a literary magazine "Vakku" for the last few years.
Baby also played a key role in building Kerala Union of Working Journalists and Senior Journalists Forum.
