A tight security cover has been thrown in 21,424 polling booths across the state deploying more than 52,000 police personnel, state's Chief Electoral Officer Nalini Natto told reporters giving detils of the arrangements made for polling.
A total of 2,126 polling booths have been identified as "critical" for which a four-layer security would be provided to ensure trouble-free voting, she said.
The critical polling stations are located in Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram constituencies, she said.
About 1.5 lakh officials including 10,000 women have been deployed for poll duties.
After the elections, Electornic Voting Machines (EVMs) would be kept at 32 centres across the state under a three-tier security coverage till the counting day on May 16, Natto said.
