Actress Priyanka Chopra was not aware of her "Zanjeer" co-star Ram Charan Teja's popularity down South before she visited Hyderabad.
Priyanka, who is sharing the screen space with Ram in the remake of hit 1973 Hindi action-thriller, was surprised to see Ram's fan following while shooting for the film.
"I didn't know Ram much before 'Zanjeer'. I was not aware of his popularity until we visited Hyderabad for the film's shoot. His around 300 fans always used to follow us wherever we would shoot in the city. He is a superstar and has got loyal fans," said Priyanka, who was in the Capital to promote the film.
Apart from Hindi, "Zanjeer" was shot simultaneously in Telugu. Both versions will release on September 6.
Priyanka, Ram and director Apoorva Lakhia turned up two-hour late for the press conference with media threatening to walk out. The actors later apologised, blaming the delay on miscommunication.
"We sincerely apologise for the delay. It's all due to a big communication gap in terms of time. We were told some other time. We promise to make up," Priyanka said.
"Zanjeer" would be Priyanka's first release after last year's hit "Barfi!".
"I don't think about gap. I was shooting in these months for my back-to-back films. I have 'Krrish 3' and 'Gumday' lined up for releases," she said.
Priyanka feels Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Zanjeer' cannot be remade because the film is an inspiration for all.
"Our 'Zanjeer' is the re-imagined version of the previous film. One cannot remake the original film. We just took an inspiration from the previous film," she said.
Besides promoting the film, Priyanka is shooting for Mary Kom biopic, where she will be seen playing an athlete.
