Assistant Police Inspector Ramdas Wakode said some unknown persons attacked Ajay Ramdas Paswan with stones and tiles last night.
His assailants left the place after Paswan collapsed in pool of blood.
"Paswan's room mates were under impression that he had fallen to his death from top floor of the highrise," Wakode said.
The postmortem report revealed that it was a murder and not an accident.
A case of murder under section 302 of IPC was registered and police are yet to achieve any breakthrough.
