Water from Mettur dam to be released from tomorrow

Following requests from farmers in Salem, Namakkal and Erode districts, Tamil Nadu government today ordered release of water from Mettur dam for irrigation from tomorrow.
The water would be released from tomorrow until January 15 next year, Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said in a statement.
The three districts were benefiting from water for 137 days since August 15 this year.
The decision would help irrigation of over 45,000 acre of land in these three districts, he added.
