Bhakra dam today recorded water level of 1,622.04 feet, which was 3.68 feet more than what it was on the same day last year.
Similarly, water level in Pong dam, set up on Beas river, was 1,339.30 feet as against 1,314.25 feet on the same day last year, an official of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) said here today.
The water inflow in Bhakra was 57,830 cusecs as against 51,126 cusecs last year. The water outflow from Bhakra dam was 26,400 cusecs as against 26,342 cusecs last year.
Bhakra and Pong dams are to be filled up to a level of 1,680 feet and 1,390 feet respectively by September.
"There is no need to worry as of now as the water level in both reservoirs is comfortable," an official of BBMB said.
With better position of water level in reservoirs this year, BBMB has already assured partnering states--Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan to release water as per their requirements for irrigation and drinking purposes.
Partnering states meet their water requirement for different purposes including irrigation from Bhakra and Pong dams.
