WB forest personnel trying to capture straying tiger: Sinha

Forest personnel are trying to capture the full grown adult male tiger which had strayed into the forest of Lalgarh in West Midnapore district, West Bengal Chief Wildlife Warden Ravi Kant Sinha said today.
The tiger is still in the area and the forest personnel are trying to capture it, Sinha told PTI here.
Asked whether the tiger had come to Lalgarh from Simlipal in Odisha or from Jharkhand, he said, "I do not know. We can only confirm it if we can catch it and compare it with the data base".

Seven camera traps had been installed following reports of killing of cattle recently.
Asked about the likely movement of the tiger, Sinha, also the state's principal chief conservator of forest (wildlife) said, "It is an wild animal. The tiger is under stress. It will keep moving. It can always go back".
He said that if caught, the tiger would be taken to a rescue centre depending on its condition.
The forest personnel have placed traps in areas where the tiger was located, he added.
