"We are finalising papers for issuing the poll notification," State Election Commission Secretary Tapas Roy told PTI.
Yesterday, the state government had issued a modified notification for the polls.
Roy said that a meeting with observers would be held in the next few days, followed by another with the DGP, IGP, district magistrates and superintendents of police to review preparations and security deployment.
The panchayat elections would now be held in five phases on July 11, 15, 19, 22 and 25.
Meanwhile, a delegation of opposition Left Front submitted a memorandum to the SEC during the day demanding free, fair and peaceful polls.
