West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today visited Raidighi in South 24 Parganas district where four of her party activists were killed, and said her party does not believe in the politics of terror.
"I have come to Raidighi to meet the families of those who were killed in a barbaric manner. It was such a cruel incident. There was so much of violence and terror. We don't believe in spreading terror or in indecency. I condemn all such incidents," Banerjee said.
Stressing that she would not let anyone terrorise people with violence and bloodshed, the Trinamool Congress chief said the administration would do its work.
"If you think you can commit a crime and run away from Bengal, you are wrong. We will nab you from any part of the world. The Opposition must remember their party is not in power anymore. We will not allow violence like Singur and Nandigram," Banerjee said.
She visited Saraswati village in Raidighi to meet the families of slain Trinamool activists and announced that the party would support the families in the hour of crisis.
Some assailants had hurled bombs and opened fire at the Trinamool activists, killing four of them and injuring three others when they had gathered together for a meeting in Khari village in Raidighi last month.
Four people have been arrested and an FIR registered against former state minister and CPI(M) leader Kanti Ganguly in connection with the killings.
"Despite the financial crunch we will keep working for the people to the best of our abilities. CPI(M) incurred debts and the Centre is taking away major share of our revenue. Yet we are working for the people," Banerjee said adding her priority was maternal and child healthcare.
