Welspun Renewables commissions 52 MW solar plant in Maha

Welspun Renewables, India's leading generator of solar energy, today said it has commissioned Maharashtra's first mega solar capacity under the public-private partnership model.
The 52 MW power plant is located at Baramati, one of the highest radiation receiving regions of the state, the company said in a statement.
"The Baramati project will generate enough green energy to power 240,000 households. Estimated 83,220 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions will be mitigated each year," it said.
Vineet Mittal, Vice Chairman Welspun Renewables said the 52 MW clean energy project is strengthening partnership with Maharashtra.
"This project is a testament of our commitment to furthering India's clean energy mission. Our engineering expertise will ensure optimum generation from this project. While powering the state's industries, we will also be working with our neighbouring communities towards sustainable living," he said.

Welspun Renewables has set up the project on a public-private partnership (PPP) model with Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. Ltd (Mahagenco).
Apart from Maharashtra the company has presence across 10 states in India. In line with its 11,001 MW renewable commitment, Welspun Renewables will be commissioning 1 GW capacities well within this year.
For 100 per cent of its current operating capacity, it has 25 years power purchase agreement (PPA) with electricity utilities.
