Terming the heavy rainfall in western UP as pre-monsoon showers, Director of the Lucknow MeT office J P Gupta said that monsoon was advancing normally and if the situation remains the same it would enter the state by June 24-25.
According to the MeT office, chief amount of rainfall recorded in cm was Nagina 7, Bijnore and Moradabad 5 each, Dhampur, Moradabad and Sambhal 3 each, and Nighasan, Nazibabad, and Amroha 2 each.
Following rain, day temperatures fell appreciably in Moradabad and Meerut divisions and changed a little in the remaining divisions of the state.
According to a MeT forecast, rain and thundershowers would occur at isolated places over the state in the next 24 hours. It warned that dust storm or thunderstorm accompanied with squall would occur at isolated places.
