Wheat prices went up by 0.41 per cent to Rs 1,945 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators widening their positions, taking positive cues from spot market on uptick in demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in September rose by Rs 8, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 1,945 per quintal with an open interest of 330 lots.

Likewise, the wheat for delivery in August contracts edged up by Rs 3, or 0.16 per cent, to Rs 1,934 per quintal in 8,000 lots.

Analysts said expansion of positions by traders following pick up in demand in the physical market and a pause in arrivals from producing belts led to rise in wheat prices in futures trade.
