Wheat remains up on rising demand

Wheat prices edged up by Rs 5 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on rising demand from flour mills against tight supplies.
Rice basmati also traded higher on pick up in demand.
Traders said besides increased demand from flour mills, tight stocks due to fall in arrivals, mainly kept wheat prices higher.
Uptick in demand from retailers helped rice basmati prices to trade higher, they said.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) advanced by Rs 5 to Rs 1,840-1,845 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 1,845-1,850 per 90 kg. Sooji also strengthened by Rs 20 to Rs 1,150-1,160 per 50 kg.
In the rice section, rice basmati Permal 1121 variety finished higher at Rs 3,950-4,800 from previous level of Rs 3,900-4,700 per quintal.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) Rs 10,700, Shri Lal Mahal Rs 11,300, Super Basmati Rice Rs 9,700, Basmati common new Rs 4,800-5,000, Rice Pusa (1121) Rs 3,950-4,800, Permal raw Rs 2,000-2,050, Permal wand Rs 2,125-2,200, Sela Rs 2,800-2,900 and Rice IR-8 Rs 1,850-1,860, Bajra Rs 1,300-1,305, Jowar yellow Rs 1,750-1,800, white Rs 3,400-3,600, Maize Rs 1,540-1,550, Barley Rs 1,610-1,615.
