Wheat softens on higher supply

Wheat prices drifted lower by Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on increased supplies from producing belts and reduced offtake by flour mills.

However, other grains remained steady in thin trade.

Traders said adequate stocks position on increased arrivals from producing regions against reduced offtake by flour mills mainly led to decline in wheat prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) slipped by Rs 10 to Rs 1,750-1,755 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 1,755-1,760 per 90 kg.
