Widow of drug dealer arrested with 4 kg of narcotics

Widow of an alleged drug dealer in Jammu was arrested today and large quantity of narcotic substances was recovered from her house in Khour camp area, police said.
With the arrest of Preeto Devi, wife of infamous drug dealer in Jammu Sarfoo Ram, police claimed to have busted a major drug racket operating in the region.
"Sarfoo Ram who was an infamous drug dealer in Jammu had died a couple of year ago; we came to know that his family too was involved in this illicit trade. On specific information, we raided his house in Khour camp area and recovered large quantity of narcotic substances from there," Inspector General of Police Jammu range Danesh Rana told reporters here today.
The police raided the residence of Sarfoo Ram arrested his widow Preeto Devi and recovered 4.115 kg of narcotics and Indian currency Rs 8,94,500 in cash, he said.
Rana said the kingpin of the racket, Ajieet Kumar, who is the younger brother of Ram managed to escape, adding "We are hopeful to nab him soon."
Her two sons who were also involved in the illicit trade were serving their term in a Jail in Punjab, he said.
The IGP said that in another incident, police in Jammu also arrested three drug peddlers.
Police in Jammu have also mooted a proposal to setup a full-fledged rehabilitation centre for the drug users in the region, he added.
Replying to a question about the firing incident in Poonch in which one infiltrator was gunned down by the army he said, "The firing lasted for some time and later during the search operation, the army recovered one body and some arms and ammunition."
When asked about the security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra he said that all the security apparatus has been put in place.
"What concerns me is the condition of the national highway, the bad condition of the road might create problem for the pilgrimage," he said.
