Head of the newly formed Janata Parivar outfit Mulayam Singh Yadav today said the opinions of all constituent parties would be considered while deciding the structure of the new party.
He was replying to a suggestion by Uttar Pradesh Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya who said the new outfit should be named Samajwadi Party and inherit its election symbol and flag.
"This is our request. Final decision is to be taken by you (Mulayam)," Raja said at a programme at the SP headquarters to celebrate the birth anniversary of former prime minister Chandrasekhar.
Replying to the suggestion, Yadav said, "Leaders of the six parties, including SP, have showed confidence in me and I will also have to respect them and consider what they want," he said.
Yadav said the new party is formed to take on the BJP.
"We - SP, Janata Dal (U), RJD, Janta Dal (Secular), Indian National Lok Dal, and Samajwadi Janata Party have made Janata parivar to fight Narendra Modi's arbitrary function."
"We decided that to stop the arbitrariness of the Centre, we have to unite as standing alone will not work. Our merger is not a common development. There was no manipulation and I was unanimously elected as the leader. The structure of the party will soon be decided keeping in view everyone's advice," Yadav said.
